Mugla Governor Mustafa Hakan GUVENCER said that Marmaris should be proud to have such an important historical building that is Marmaris Castle. He added that we welcome people coming from all over the world to the castle. Beyond its economical value, it is of real moral value to protect this historical artifact.
Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister ARICI mentioned that cultural assets should be exhibited where they are located and that there are many historical artefacts revealed in Turkey but being exhibited abroad. He added that they are campaigning to get these artefacts where they belong.
Dr. Kamil OZER Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism pointed out that Mugla's Archaic period has taken a very crucial role for human life and Mugla is the one of the pupils interms of cultural assets of our country as expressing by 195 historical ruins in a total in the province, 22 of them's restorations are completed, 15 ongoing archaeologial excavations are still going on, 5 archaeological museums are available, Turkey's one and only Underwater Archaeological Museum in the boundary of the province, and also the province hosts 3 artefacts that are registered as a Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
